Wenger completes weekend sweep at FCR and FALS, earns $5,500
On Friday afternoon McKay Wenger made the short trip to Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) to compete in a field of 18 cars for the Jr. Kimler Memorial. Following the second fastest time overall in qualifying, McKay picked up a heat race win over Jeremiah Hurst, which positioned him second on the starting grid for the A-Main. Sliding ahead of Hurst on the high-side near the halfway point, Wenger ran away with the $3,000 victory over Steve Casebolt, Mike Glasscock, Ryan Unzicker, and Kevin Weaver. The win marked his third of the season.
1The following night at his home track of Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.), Wenger topped the 15-car field in time trials before coming home second in heat behind Jay Morris. Winning by more than a six-second margin, McKay cruised to his four win of the season and third straight over Kevin Weaver, Billy Drake, Jay Morris, and Donny Walden. He earned $2,500 for the FALS Cup triumph.
He will carry his momentum into Kokomo Speedway (Kokomo, Ind.) next weekend for the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series-sanctioned Hoosier Dirt Shootout, boasting a $25,000 top prize.
