Mckay Wenger
Motor issues hinder Wenger's weekend
Friday night found McKay Wenger in action at Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) piloting his Popejoy Plumbing No. 42 Late Model. Running into trouble early, Wenger suffered a blown head gasket in hot laps that ended his night immediately.
The following night at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) after the crewed thrashed to replace a motor, McKay timed in fourth fastest overall in qualifying before picking up a heat race victory. Earning the pole position for the $2,500-to-win A-Main, Wenger jumped out to an early race lead before surrendering the top spot to Billy Drake. Reeling in the leader late on the high-side, McKay got slammed into the wall by another competitor while making a pass for the lead that brought an early end to his evening.
