McKay Wenger crowned FALS Track Champion
FAIRBURY, Ill. (10/04/25) – For the third time in his career, McKay Wenger has claimed the Fairbury Speedway Super Late Model track championship, adding the 2025 title to his previous crowns in 2020 and 2024.
The milestone marks Wenger’s sixth overall track championship between the Late Model and Modified divisions.
Wenger secured the title at his home track over the weekend during the MARS Late Model Championship Series finale — the FALS Frenzy — hosted at the Fairbury quarter-mile oval. He opened the event with a third-place finish in his heat race, followed by a ninth-place effort in Friday night’s preliminary feature.
On Saturday, Wenger secured a spot in the $12,000-to-win main event with a runner-up finish in his heat, overtaking front-row starter Mike Mataragas on the opening lap. Starting on the third row for the 50-lap feature, Wenger advanced one position to bring home a fifth-place finish. He followed Ashton Winger, Jason Feger, Ryan Unzicker, and Kyle Hammer across the line.
The weekend’s performance sealed the Super Late Model track championship for the Fairbury native, who edged out Mike Spatola for the title.
