McKay Wenger clinches track championship at Fairbury

A runner-up finish in Saturday’s FALS Cup event at Fairbury Speedway was enough to clinch McKay Wenger his third Late Model track championship at his hometown track—and his second consecutive title at the famed quarter-mile oval.

The final round of the weekly FALS Cup drew 34 entries to Fairbury, where Wenger outran pole-sitter Mike Spatola in his heat race to claim the eight-lap win. Battling for a $2,500 payday in the 30-lap feature, he turned in a steady result to finish second, joining race winner Mike Harrison and third-place finisher Cade McWhorter on the podium.

He also competed in a make-up feature where he finished sixth.
