Wenger records top-10 finish in Illinois Valley Showdown prelim at LaSalle
McKay Wenger joined the MARS Late Model Championship Series at LaSalle Speedway over the weekend as the newly revived quarter-mile oval hosted the two-day Illinois Valley Showdown.
Friday’s program featured a pair of preliminary features, where Wenger delivered a steady performance—placing 10th in the opening round and 11th in the second 25-lap sprint.
After a sluggish start on Saturday, Wenger rallied with an impressive fourth-to-first run in his B-Main to earn a spot in the $25,000-to-win main event. Gaining momentum in the 75-lap feature, he advanced five positions to finish 12th in the weekend finale.
McKay remains in fifth in the latest MARS point standings.
