Wenger notches fifth-place finish in FALS Triple Down Shootout
McKay Wenger opened his Memorial Day weekend with the MARS Late Model Championship Series on Friday at Tri-City Speedway, where the night’s event served as a non-points race.
After advancing two spots to finish third in his heat race, Wenger went on to post a consistent 10th-place result in the 30-lap feature.
The following night, Wenger returned to familiar territory at Fairbury Speedway for the FALS Triple Down Shootout. A runner-up finish in his heat secured a spot in the $5,000-to-win A-Main, where he charged into the top five. Gaining six positions over the course of the 40-lapper, Wenger crossed the line in fifth, trailing only Jason Feger, Brian Shirley, Dennis Erb Jr., and Ryan Unzicker.
Wenger wrapped up his weekend on Sunday at Spoon River Speedway with a 15th-place finish in the $5,000-to-win finale.
Wenger climbed to fifth in the latest MARS point standings.
