Top-10 finish in 34 Raceway's Slocum 50
Action resumed on the MARS Late Model Championship Series tour this past weekend, as McKay Wenger returned to competition at Cedar County Raceway for the Hawkeye Land 40, joining a stout 43-car field.
Still settling into his rhythm in what marked just his fifth start of the season, Wenger secured a spot in the main event with a runner-up finish in his B-Main. He went on to place 21st in the $5,000-to-win feature.
The following night, the focus shifted to 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, for the two-day Slocum 50 weekend. On Friday, Wenger earned a consolation race win to transfer into the 40-lap feature, where he recorded a 13th-place finish.
Building momentum into Saturday’s finale, Wenger advanced to the $10,555-to-win main event by finishing second in his heat race. Lining up from the fourth row, he capped off the weekend with a solid eighth-place performance in the 50-lap Slocum 50.
