McKay Wenger opens 2025 with Nippy 50 at Maquoketa Speedway
McKay Wenger made his first start of the 2025 season over the weekend as the Curless Motorsports team invaded Maquoketa (IA) Speedway for the MARS Late Model Championship Series doubleheader.
With the 3/8-mile oval drawing a stout field of 45 Super Late Models for Friday's Nippy 50 preliminary, Wenger was forced to rely on a provisional into the opener after losing ground in his heat race and consolation race. Finding his footing on the feature, McKay climbed seven positions in the 40-lap affair.
Wenger's weekend came to an early conclusion on Saturday after finishing fifth in his B-Main, effectively ending his pursuit of the $15,000 top prize in the Nippy 50 finale.
